Ecology

Halletec offers an extensive range of ecological services. These include basic species and habitat surveys for monitoring, Planning Applications or Environmental Impact Assessments, production of Biodiversity Action Plans (BAPs), negotiation of Section 106 agreements, generating management plans and preparing applications for DEFRA Licences.

Phase I Habitat Surveys include:

  • A walk-over survey to map habitat types according to JNCC methodology
  • A brief assessment of the surrounding area including a desk top study

Extended Phase 1 Habitat Surveys include as above, but also:

  • A record of botanical species and assessment of their relative abundance
  • The recording of all wildlife species and signs noted during the survey

Phase II Habitat Surveys

These are normally species or site specific and would typically involve:

  • A full Extended Phase 1 Survey of the site
  • A detailed assessment of proportions of species present
  • A semi-quantitative survey based on National Vegetation Classification (NVC) criteria

Restoration, Aftercare and Management Plans

Halletec’s Ecology team can generate site specific, and fully tailored, plans. These typically include full details of soil handling, species planting lists for different habitat types, and advice on best practice methodology and aftercare. Management Plans include work schedules to meet specific aims for habitat species and development.
