Ecological Surveys

Evidence of Use Surveys

These are site specific and designed to identify species present within a defined area by means of:

  • A desk top study of local information
  • A full walk-over survey
  • The preparation of a list of species present based on sightings and indirect physical evidence
  • Reporting, recommendations and mitigation measures

Species Surveys

Certain species are protected by law and, prior to development, it may be necessary to check for their presence following national methodological guidelines.

Surveys offered include:

  • Bat surveys
  • Amphibian surveys for great crested newts
  • Owl surveys
  • Badger surveys
  • Breeding bird surveys
  • Water vole surveys
  • Dormouse surveys

This is not a comprehensive list, and surveys can be designed for all other species. All surveys are undertaken to guidelines. Reports include mitigations and recommendations where required.
